Ms. Shay has been dancing since the age of 3 and has danced at a variety of studios such as: Susan’s School of Dance, Dance Theater Workshop, Talent Factory, City in Motion, and Missouri State Ballet (Now Known as Kansas City Ballet). She has worked with some wonderful and amazing dance companies like Alvin Ally, Milwaukee Ballet, Saratoga Ballet and she has taken master classes with many professionals in the dance field, the late Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Shane Sparks, Dee Caspary and Nappy Tabs. She has studied a variety of dance styles such as jazz, tap, ballet, pom, Hip-Hop, ballroom, musical theater, contemporary, modern, lyrical and acro. She was also a member of her high school dance team and William Jewell’s dance/pom college team. She showed great leadership skills as captain bringing many state/ national titles to her teams.
Ms. Shay graduated from William Jewell College in 2004 with a degree in History and minor in Secondary Education/ Psychology. She has been teaching and choreographing for 17 years now and continues to express herself through dance. The summer of 2016 Ms. Shay and Ms. Kim choreographed for Dance Spectacular at Cathy Roe Ultimate Dance and recently won for best choreography at CRU nationals out of 500 numbers. Ms. Shay has also won many judges specialty awards such as Best Story telling and Dare to Be Different to name a few.
This will be Ms. Shay’s 5th year with her family at The Studio LDG and she can’t wait to continue her journey of sharing her passion of dance with everyone that steps into the classroom.
